Setting online booking limits
Control the party sizes accepted online, how far ahead guests can book, how much notice the restaurant requires and which booking times are offered.
Control the party sizes accepted online, how far ahead guests can book, how much notice the restaurant requires and which booking times are offered.
These restrictions apply to bookings made by guests through the public booking page. Staff can still add bookings manually when appropriate.
Opening the online booking limits
Open Settings → Booking rules → Online bookings and locate the online booking limits, booking time slots and same-day booking cut-off sections.
Minimum online party size
Min online is the smallest party that guests can book through the public booking page.
For example, if the minimum is 2, a guest cannot make an online booking for one person.
Staff bookings are not restricted by this setting.
Maximum online party size
Max online is the largest party that can use the public booking page.
Guests with a larger party are advised to contact the restaurant directly.
If the restaurant automatically confirms smaller bookings but holds larger groups for approval, the request threshold must remain within the permitted online party-size range.
For example:
- Maximum online party size: 12
- Request approval from: 9 guests
- Parties of 1–8 can be confirmed automatically.
- Parties of 9–12 are sent as requests.
- Parties of 13 or more cannot book online.
Maximum days in advance
Max days in advance controls how far into the future guests can make an online booking.
For example, entering 30 allows guests to book up to 30 days ahead.
If the field is blank or set to 0, Table Harmony uses a maximum booking window of 365 days.
The restaurant can enter a shorter period if it does not want to accept bookings too far in advance.
Minimum notice
Min notice (minutes) determines how close to the requested time an online booking can be made.
For example:
- 60 minutes requires at least one hour’s notice.
- 120 minutes requires at least two hours’ notice.
If the restaurant requires 60 minutes’ notice, a guest attempting to book at 18:00 cannot select a time earlier than 19:00.
Staff can still add a booking manually when necessary.
Activating and removing the limits
Keep the Active switch on for the configured online limits to apply.
Select Save after changing the minimum or maximum party size, maximum days in advance or minimum notice.
Select Remove limits if the restaurant no longer wants to use this set of online-booking restrictions.
Removing the limits does not remove opening hours, table availability or other booking rules.
Booking time slots
Choose how far apart the booking times offered to online guests should be:
- Every 15 minutes: For example, 19:00, 19:15, 19:30 and 19:45.
- Every 30 minutes: For example, 19:00, 19:30 and 20:00.
This setting controls the times displayed on the public booking page.
Staff can continue adding bookings manually at any 15-minute time, even when online guests are offered 30-minute intervals.
Available booking times must also fall within the service’s opening hours and cannot be later than its configured last-booking time.
Same-day booking cut-off
Activate Same-day booking cut-off if the restaurant wants to stop accepting online bookings for the current day at a fixed time.
After activating it, choose the cut-off time.
For example, if the cut-off is 18:00:
- Until 18:00, guests can book available times for that day, subject to the minimum-notice rule.
- At 18:00, online bookings for that day are turned off.
- Guests trying to book for that day are advised to contact the restaurant directly.
- Future dates remain available according to the restaurant’s other booking rules.
- Staff can still add bookings manually.
The minimum-notice rule and the same-day cut-off both apply. Whichever restriction prevents the booking first determines what the guest can book.
How the limits work together
A time is offered online only when it satisfies all relevant booking rules, including:
- Opening hours
- Last-booking time
- Minimum and maximum online party size
- Maximum days in advance
- Minimum notice
- Booking-time interval
- Same-day booking cut-off
- Available capacity and tables
- Slot limits, if configured
