Table combinations
Create table combinations for tables your restaurant regularly joins together, so Table Harmony can suggest or allocate them for larger parties.
Plan note: Table combinations are included with both Harmony and Harmony Plus. Harmony Plus also allows tables to be selected visually from the floor plan when creating a combination.
Introduction
Create table combinations for tables that the restaurant regularly joins together. Table Harmony can then suggest or automatically allocate the saved combination when a single table is not large enough for a reservation.
Opening Table combinations
Open Settings → Tables and scroll to the Table combinations section.
Here you can create new combinations and review the combinations already saved.
Creating a combination
Select at least two tables from the same area using the Table list.
Harmony Plus restaurants can alternatively select the tables visually using the Floor plan option.
After selecting the tables, Table Harmony pre-fills the combination’s name and capacity. Review these details before saving because the practical capacity of joined tables may differ from the total capacity of the individual tables.
Combination name and capacity
For each combination, check or enter:
- Name: Usually the numbers or names of the joined tables, such as 1 + 2.
- Minimum guests: The smallest party for which the combination should normally be used.
- Maximum guests: The largest party the joined tables can seat comfortably.
For example, two individual four-seat tables may only seat between five and six guests comfortably when physically joined. Set the combination’s capacity according to how the tables work in the restaurant, rather than simply adding together their individual capacities.
Availability
Choose who can normally use the saved combination:
- Online & staff: Table Harmony can use the combination for online reservations and bookings added by staff.
- Staff only: The combination is excluded from online availability, but staff can still assign it manually.
Priority
Priority controls which suitable combination Table Harmony prefers:
- 10 is the highest priority and is used first.
- 1 is the lowest priority and is used last.
- New combinations start with priority 5.
Priority is considered when more than one available combination could accommodate the same party.
Saving the combination
After checking the details, select Add combination.
The saved combination appears in the list below, showing:
- Its name
- Area
- Whether it is active
- Minimum and maximum capacity
- Availability
- Priority
Select Edit beside an existing combination to change its settings.
How automatic allocation works
Table Harmony considers a saved combination when one individual table is not large enough for the reservation.
If the necessary tables are available and the reservation is within the combination’s configured capacity, the combination can be suggested to staff or assigned automatically.
Creating a combination does not mean that its tables are permanently joined. The individual tables remain available separately whenever the combination is not being used.
Using tables in more than one combination
A table can form part of more than one saved combination. When selected, Table Harmony shows any existing combinations that already use that table.
For example, table 2 could be included in both 1 + 2 and 2 + 3. Only one of those combinations can be used at the same time because both require table 2.
Table Harmony uses current availability to prevent the same table from being allocated to overlapping bookings.
Combining tables manually
Staff do not have to create a saved combination for every possible arrangement.
When adding or editing a booking, staff can select multiple tables and create any suitable one-off combination manually. This is useful for an unusual party or a table arrangement that the restaurant does not use regularly.
Saved combinations are most useful for arrangements that are used frequently and should be considered during automatic allocation or smart table suggestions.
