Setting up tables and areas
Set up your restaurant’s dining areas and tables so Table Harmony can calculate availability, suggest suitable tables and organise bookings correctly.
Plan note: Areas and table management are included with both Harmony and Harmony Plus. The visual Floor view is available with Harmony Plus.
Opening the table settings
Open Settings from the main navigation. Under Restaurant setup, select Areas or Tables.
Setting up areas
Areas are the different sections of your restaurant, such as the main dining room, terrace, bar or private room.
Open Settings → Areas, enter the area name and select Add area.
Area options
Each area has the following controls:
- Active: Makes the area available in Service View and for new bookings. If an area is made inactive, it is removed from Service View and cannot be used for new bookings. Its tables and existing bookings remain saved.
- Selectable online: Allows online guests to choose this area as their preference.
- Optional descriptions: Add useful information about the area for guests.
Area names and descriptions should be entered in the restaurant’s main language. Table Harmony automatically creates the other language version, which can be checked using Review translations.
Letting guests choose an area
Switch on Let customers choose a preferred area when booking online if guests should be able to request an area.
This choice is only shown on the online booking form when at least two active areas are marked as Selectable online.
The guest is choosing a preferred area. Table Harmony will use the available tables and booking rules when allocating the reservation.
Adding tables
Open Settings → Tables. For each new table, enter:
- Table number or name
- Minimum number of seats
- Maximum number of seats
- Area
- Shape
Then select Add table.
The shape is used when arranging tables on the Harmony Plus Floor view.
Minimum and maximum seats
The minimum and maximum seats define the table’s normal booking capacity.
Online allocation stays within this range. Staff can place a booking outside the range when necessary by confirming the manual override.
For example, a table with a minimum of 2 and maximum of 4 will normally be considered for parties of between 2 and 4 guests.
Table priority
Priority controls which suitable table Table Harmony tries to use first:
- 10 is the highest priority and is used first.
- 1 is the lowest priority and is used last.
- New tables start with a priority of 5.
This allows the restaurant to fill preferred tables first while keeping other tables available for later bookings.
Booking mode
The booking mode determines who can normally use the table:
- Online & staff: The table can be used for online bookings and bookings added by staff.
- Staff only: The table does not contribute to online availability and will not be allocated to an online booking. Staff can still assign bookings to it.
Staff only is useful for tables the restaurant wants to reserve for telephone bookings, walk-ins or operational use.
Turning Bookable off
Turning off Bookable removes the table from normal booking availability:
- Its seats are excluded from online availability and capacity.
- It is excluded from smart table suggestions and automatic allocation.
- Table combinations containing it become unavailable.
- Existing bookings assigned to it are not moved, cancelled or deleted.
- It remains visible in Service View and on the Floor view.
- Staff can still manually override the restriction and place a booking or walk-in on it when necessary.
Use Bookable to temporarily remove a table from normal use without deleting it.
